FIRE!!!!! With Jadyn and Mollie we lit things on fire, for experimental purposes. We did a unit on the digestive and urinary system, so we burned things like nuts, Cheetos, and chips. And it was to represent the calories in the food. And we put water above the burning stuff. And then we tested the water temperature before and after.

And in our results we discovered that the nuts made the water hotter than anything else. And my peanut was 45.5 degrees in Celsius which is 114 in Fahrenheit! And it was pretty cool, and I learned a lot. And also some of the chips smelled really good, and I discovered that nuts don’t smell good when bring.  So I guess that burning oil smell good to humans. But I think that all science teachers should do this as a experiment, because it’s really fun and Students learn a lot.

Today we did a experiment about the digestive system. It was pretty cool, but is was really gross. so what we did was that we chewed up a saltine cracker for 3 minutes (chemical digestion). And then the other person crunched up a cracker (mechanical digestion).  ans while i was chewing up the cracker the enzymes in my mouth broke down the cracker along with my teeth.

And then we put some iodine in the cracker mix. and they both reacted differently. the chewed up one didn’t mix well, and turned black. then the mushed up one with hands turned light purple. And it was pretty cool.
